Studies in the Social History of Medicine
Studies in the Social History of Medicine was a well-established series of the Society for the Social History of Medicine from 1987-2007. We are pleased to announce our new partnership with Pickering & Chatto. The mission of the series is to provide an outlet for high-quality research that embodies the Society’s commitment to the inter-disciplinary study of health, disease, and medical care in the past. Until recently, the series concentrated on collections of
essays. Organized around selected themes, these volumes often but not always
arose from SSHM conferences and were subsequently developed by their editors.
The series will continue to include works of this nature. New Editor David Cantor has been appointed series editor (edited collections) for Studies in the Social History of Medicine: He replaces Anne Borsay who has held the position since 2001. Proposals for edited collections should go to Dr Cantor. Professor Borsay will see through to publication those volumes with which she is already involved. The Editors of the series welcome formal proposals and initial enquiries for book proposals. Proposals should be at least six pages in length and between 15 and 20 pages if sample material is not available. However, the editors encourage the submission of a brief preliminary enquiry. Please send your enquiry on edited volumes to Dr David Cantor and on monographs to Dr Ornella Moscucci (addresses as below). An initial response can then be requested to test the water. For your formal proposal please see Pickering & Chatto's submission guidelines. Guidelines for Authors
